Lee Hyori Monochrome Inspired Look

Lee Hyori

I was randomly browsing the internet and saw Lee Hyori's new 5th album, Monochrome.
Although I usually don't care too much for K-pop or K-inspired anything, I respect Lee Hyori and I actually DO like her, ever since her Fin.K.L days. =D
I would say she is the Jennifer Aniston of S Korea. Why? Because she has an effortless beauty about her and she looks pretty with just a white tank and jeans. (Very jealous...)
Plus she's an advocate for animal welfare and rights, which is pretty hot.

Anyways, Hyori looks gorgeous (as always) with her dramatic 60s Twiggy inspired/Adele's makeup look for her album covers. Simple yet dramatic. Bold and Beautiful.

Even though I can't compare even close to her beauty, I tried to do an inspired look because I JUST WANTED TO.  =p

I do have to say that I already had makeup on for the day and I just did it on top of whatever I had on so it's not a clean job. I actually do want to do a full makeover in the future, just didn't want to start on a clean slate 3 a.m. in the morning.

Had to put a wig on top of my hair for the extra 'oomph'
I first started with the eyes -drew a faux crease along the eye socket (maybe a little larger b/c I wanted my eyes to look larger or maybe I was just too tired) and lightened the whole lid with a non-glittery but slightly shimmery eyeshadow.
Then I lined only my upper eyes with an eyeliner and left the bottom alone for now. I got my shimmery eyeshadow again to really emphasize the inner corners and slightly darkened my outer V to make my eyes more dimensional- but don't darken (or blend enough so it wouldn't be darken) the crease lines.
Now, the bottom line was a bit more tricky because of my eye shape, but I drew a straight line and extended it until the crease I drew earlier.

I guess the very simplified way of explaining is: I lined the waterlines but made sure I didn't close the eyeliner off and extended at the end. Make the lines a little fuzzy, and brighten the ends. Slap on a dramatic and full faux lashes on top and individual short lashes on the bottom and call it a day. :D

(Note: I didn't put any bottom lashes on.)

For the face I used Hera HD foundation for the dewy yet flawless finish then lightly powdered to set the foundation. Afterwards, I contoured my nose because my nose obviously needs a little boost, then thickened my eyebrows as I usually do. I didn't bother with the blush because I intended on taking only black&whites, so I just sculpted my cheekbones and jawline for contour.

Lastly, I put on a nude-pink lipstick just to balance out the dramatic eyes and patted it with tissue to mattify the lipstick.

I think that covers it.

Not Bold Enough

Because I have been so MIA for this blog, my friend gave me a theme: Diamonds and Denim. (or rather, I forced it out of him)

I do feel bad but I have been taking photobooth pictures of my face from time to time so I do have materials...I just didn't do a blog about them due to laziness. (and admittedly, more than half aren't blogworthy)

Anyways, going back to the makeup...

I used UD's 24/7 glide pencil in Deviant to outline and fill in my shape on my lids and lower lashline. On top of that, I carefully patted on R&R's Denim to mattify and intensify the color.

Afterwards, with MAC's FIX+, I used MUF's glitter all over the lids and inner corners to represent the "diamond" of the theme. You can't really see it b/c it's "photobooth-quality" but its there ;)

I wanted to use rhinestones for more bling, but due to latex allergies, there weren't any way to stick those buggers on...
If I could though, I probably would have used it all over my face >:D

I do want to come back to this theme and expand it as a full on face project!
But for now, this will do =P
